My first premade avatar, a black jaguar—ready for Pride Month with a little splash of rainbow.

I’ve kept this first version simple and lightweight (23k triangles) but plan to add customization options in the future. He’ll be available for purchase on Gumroad and other stores soon—hope you like him!

Remember it's my first premade avatar, please be gentle. 👀

A little free update for my jaguar avatar:

- All features can now be controlled via menu, and use of hand gestures can be toggled (in case you need your hands for other things)
- You can now summon a customizable flag to show some Pride, if the rainbow rosettes are not enough!

In addition to Gumroad he's now also available from my Ko-fi store:

Thank you @Rengyr for your help with the update!

Published another little update for my black jaguar avatar, adding PhysBones to the feet so they move more realistically when they come in contact with the ground. (AKA, dynamic beans!)

Free update, see my previous tweet for store links. Thanks again @Rengyr for the help!

Added an alternate texture for my jaguar avatar. I still prefer the black texture because it works better with the rainbow rosettes, but you can now have both!

It's a free update for previous purchases, see above for the store links!

Short clip of my jaguar avatar in VRChat - turned out a bit dark in hindsight, but I love how that makes the rosettes glow even more.

Thanks to @/SeraphisZurvan on Twitter for the recording!

Also, a quick poll: With the recent VRChat issues, would there be interest in a port to other VR platforms? And which one would you like to see the most?

@kianga Asides from voting in the poll (I opted for Vircadia/the fork of it called Overte - an open platform makes sense to me), I'm curious about the porting process itself - is it a lot of work? Do things mostly translate over?

(I suspect I'll be hopping around depending on where my friends go; I barely got started on VR stuff in desktop mode before VRChat did.. all that it did.)

@digitalfox Thanks for the vote! I actually still need to figure this out myself, it's why I wanted to know where I should focus my efforts first. But generally speaking, the mesh and textures will probably work on any platform that lets me use a PBR-like shader.

I assume the main work will be related to full-body tracking (getting that right on VRChat depends on so many little quirks), physics (and dynamic beans!), and adding controls/menus for special avatar features.

@digitalfox Just to give you an idea - once I'm done modeling, texturing, and weight painting an avatar, the work to bring the character into VRChat usually takes 1-2 days. And it'll probably be similar for other platforms (not counting the extra time needed to figure everything out for the first time).

At least I hope so? Having seen the VRChat SDK, I'd like to say it can't be much worse, but my past experience tells me to be careful with statements like that. 😼

@Sifuri_Ibex They introduced "anti-cheat" software that prevents client modifications, with barely any advance warning. This was announced as a security improvement, but it also disabled widely used mods people were depending on for accessibility (like captioning or limiting voice chat based on distance) and ease of use.

Even if they've promised to implement many of these features now, I think much of the anger is about the lack of development, care, and communication with the community.

@Sifuri_Ibex It just means it's software to detect modifications to the client and deny access in that case. It's used for competitive games too, where the name probably makes more sense.
