the "i need separate profiles to be in more then one instance" still doesn't seem practical to me.

why cant i just have one profile with two instances linked.

i feel less connected in the other one then here.

@LensaMoon yeah, meow.social is the only instance I'm on and I feel like I see a vastly different Mastodon than my friends on hex.bz or witches.town.
I guess the advantage is when people complain about the flood of Japanese users, I have no idea what they're talking about.

@Pizzazz yea. with the other instance its mainly art based so i get more traffic for my stuff. but like no offense to them. its their language. i just dont speak it.

@LensaMoon Yeah certainly. While I don't know any languages other than english, I worry that it might end up becoming a universal language as the world gets more globalized. So much would be lost from a linguistic anthropological standpoint.

@Pizzazz true. i wish i had more time and effort to learn another language. but as it stands my attention is too divided.

@LensaMoon Yep. Mastodon is really intensifying my desire to learn to read French (not quite as interested in learning to speak it), but I'm already dropping the ball on several of the things I'm already doing 😐

@Pizzazz yea. same. i love the japanese language. and back when i was more serious about learning the language. i'd only retained enough to recognize certain phases and words. not nearly enough to carry a conversation.

@LensaMoon I tried teaching myself Japanese back in high school but never really made it past learning the kana, so I basically only had the ability to read English loanwords in Katakana and stumble through Pokémon Green.
This was right before Duolingo became a thing, too, so I had pretty much no guidance.

@Pizzazz exactly. i have a ton of japanese language books that i got when i was in high school. i haven't opened them in 7 years at most. XD

@LensaMoon I agree.

However, I think that this problem is systematic of the current implementation of the federation. I.E. instances are discrete entry points.

To have multiple accounts connected, one needs a client that is also not tied to a specific instance.

There are a few desktop clients being developed. Intend to suggest supporting multiple accounts.

@NthTensor i just think that it would at least be easier for ppl on mobil.
i dont wanna keep having to jump back and forth all the time
