Someone else made a mention about this, and I feel like it's worth mentioning as well: there's something about Mastodon that just makes it feel a bit more welcoming. It's close-knit, but still has enough of an atmosphere that allows you to carefully jump into conversations without directly knowing someone.
It makes communication a bit easier while still keeping it relatively confined. I like that a lot.
